Africa Mathematics Projects Appoints Mercyland Pacific Pupils as Mathematics Ambassadors.



OGUN STATE; Mercyland Pacific School, in collaboration with the Africa Mathematics Project, proudly hosted the 2025 *Mathematics Ambassadors’ Day* this morning, June 24, 2025. The event, a brief but powerful 30-minute ceremony at the school’s assembly ground, honoured students shortlisted for the prestigious Mathematics Ambassadorial Awards.

This morning, the assembly ground of Mercyland Pacific School, Abeokuta, was filled with pride and excitement as students, educators, and families gathered for the 2025 Mathematics Ambassadors’ Day. The brief but meaningful ceremony, which began at 8:00 AM, celebrated students who have shown exceptional aptitude and commitment to mathematics.

The event was organized by the Africa Mathematics Project as part of its ongoing mission to spotlight young African talent and encourage the pursuit of excellence in STEM education.



Speaking at the event, Florence Asibea Moses, Vice President and Director of Strategic Communications for the project, praised the dedication of both learners and their support systems:

“Today’s ceremony is a reminder of what is possible when we invest in our children’s potential. We are not only celebrating achievement but nurturing a future where mathematics drives innovation across Africa.”

Parents and guardians joined the learners to receive the awards alongside the Project Representative, Mr. Godson, ensuring full participation and engagement from all families involved.

The Mathematics Ambassadorial Awards are designed to motivate and reward young learners, while fostering a supportive community of parents, schools, and educators dedicated to academic excellence.

As the applause echoed through the school grounds and awards were proudly displayed, it was clear that the impact of today’s event will be felt far beyond the ceremony — in classrooms, communities, and the bright futures of these young mathematicians.

The school director Mrs Oreoluwa Asu who also received a mathematics mentor award also commended the dedication of the parents which is a testament to the community’s commitment to education and excellence.
